The Helensburgh Community Council is the only elected body which represents Helensburgh. We are one of Scotland’s most active Community Councils.We are here to represent the views of the local residents- to Argyll and Bute Council and other organisations - on the issues of the day.

Next meeting

The next meeting will be on Thursday 26th August at 7pm in Victoria Hall. This will be an internal meeting of the council.

Buildings At Risk

A new short paper has been prepared by the Planning Group on how to preserve some of our fine old buildings. It has been prompted by the sad decline of Morar House into it's current dilapidated state. There are signs that the owner is taking steps to repair and restore it. But there is a long way to go.

Local Plan - Main Issues

The Community Council have submitted a report on the Local Development Plan to Argyll and Bute Council..

Vision For Helensburgh

A few years ago the community council published a vision statement for Helensburgh. It looked at the town from various angles and set out a vision of how the town could be improved. It is a document that is often referred to in discussion of planning issues. The whole document is available here.

Helensburgh Design Statement

The Community Council has prepared a Design Statement for the guidance of planners, architects and developers. It aims to be practical document which will encourage good design for new construction and alterations to existing buildings in the town. The Design Statement is available here..
